Barbara at DeaKyne Designs is an etched glass
artist in the Texas hill country. She has been working in glass since 1989, and
studied the art of abrasive etching on glass, including advanced techniques
with Norm Dobbins in Santa Fe, NM.
Combining her fine arts background, a love of
animals, and fascination with glass, she produces a variety of work depicting
American Staffordshire Terriers, wild and domestic animals. Specializing in
sculpting glass to create designs that play off light and color, her
architectural projects are featured internationally in restaurants, commercial
buildings, the U.S. Capitol, and private residences. She has provided
glass trophies for STCA National shows, International dog shows, and other pet shows.
Because of her passion for amstaffs, she has designed an art glass collection of amstaffs at play, head studies, and stacked. "I've had amstaffs since 1993 including: Ch. Whistle Valley Special Edition (Samson) and Matrix's Penny From Heaven (Penny)." Current amstaffs are Leo and Ruby.
